This is a picture of the new tube in Granton’s side. They may even put another one in where the old one was. You can see the spot where the old one was by looking at the red mark closer to his armpit. Granton had a good night last night the support form the oscillator is about as low as it has ever been. He is only receiving 45% oxygen. My mother spent the night with him and said he had a very good night. Obviously we are very excited to see Granton relaxed after a day and a half of hard struggling. Actually, in the past ten minutes he has been a little too relaxed because his heart rate has been a little low. However, it seems to be coming back up. What a great way to start the week. I have been reading everyone’s responses to our blogs and all of you have truly touched us with your responses and prayers. Thank you so much.

A Bone Marrow Drive will be at Yukon High School in the 11-12 gym on Monday, May 5th. It will be open from 11:00-3:oo or 4:00 p.m. as needed. All that is required is a cheek swab and some paper work. The testing done at this time is free, otherwise the charge is $52. The organization would like a guesstimate of the number of people donating and the time frame for ample supplies and efficiency. If you could have them blog you and we could record it, or email me at Belinda.Bedell@Yukonps.com or call Debbie Byers at 410-8188 or Civilla Ball at 354-5377. You must be between 18-60 years of age. A younger person may be tested through their private physician

Granton has some air bubbles that are not getting to the air tubes. Doctors and nurses turned him on his side and rubbed him down. This did not work so he spent most of the day on his chest instead of his back. This was different because he had been laying on his back for over a week. They did this because they thought the air would move to the tubes better this way. Actually, I think this was a good idea, but it did not work. The air is still not getting out. However, the last x-ray showed he does not have any more air in him then before, maybe even a little less. So what is going on in there? We really don’t know. I bet we will find out more when the care team makes rounds tonight. All in all, it has been a pretty good day. Usually moving Granton around or just doing the simplest things make his numbers go way down. But he has handled everything pretty well today. He does need a little more support, but nothing like before. I would like to think this is progress because if he were messed with a few days ago as much as he has been messed with today he would be in a lot worse shape. Anyway, I hope this is a good thing. But, as I said yesterday, I am praying about it, not worrying about it.

Good morning. Granton had another restful night. His numbers look good and so does he. His hair is getting longer and the nurse gave him a mo hawk after his bath. He's got stuffed animals all around him to prop him up in different positions and/or to hold the tubes up. Granton is receiving 46% oxygen and his pulse ox is at 94. The second tube on his left side seems to be working for him. The respiratory doctor who inserts the tubes has been very encouraging to us. He says that the X-rays show some setbacks but also show tiny bits of improvement. He thinks Granton will get over his pneumonia and RSV in time. It feels good to get that kind of hope from a doctor who's been around awhile. Plus, we have hope from the ultimate doctor, as well!

The Bone Marrow Donor Drive for Bolivar has been set. It is May 5th from 11:00am to 7:00pm at the Commons Area of the High School. We had to guess how many kits to have sent to us so we guessed a little high. We told them we would need 1000. I believe if everyone will get involved we can reach this number. So plan on being there and make sure to tell a friend or 10 or 20... Lets do everything we can to have that many people there. Also we are needing volunteers to help during the drive to keep things going smoothly.
